If you're looking for elementalist spike builds, you mean either air spikers, or warders who also bring Obsidian Flame.
So search on air skills.

Spiking involves dealing a lot of damage fast. Fire doesn't offer that, because of the slow casting times of anything that does greater immediate damage than Flare.
For spiking purposes, Air's armor penetration counts, but Immolate's burning or Fireball's AoE aren't relevant. So Air is better.

lightning surge followed by lightning orb. surge has a 3 second delay on the damage which gives you time to cast orb. effectively both spells hit at the same time for a fairly mean but basic spike. i suppose in theory you could follow with enervating charge or lightning strike for more damage

Except using Surge is a horrible way to give away your spike target three seconds in advance. Just asking for a Prot Spirit. If you want an Air spike Elite, then Mind Shock is the way to go.
However you can get far more bang for your buck if you go with Ether Prodigy, which gives you the energy to consistantly spike with Lightning Orb -> Strike, and pump out Heal Partys, Aegis or other such high priced but very beneficial skills.

You don't always need to run a skill to understand how it works.

You have skills bought in Grotto, and probably Drok's armor, and you're in Ascalon Arena?
Yeah, I have a suggestion: Reevaluate your standards of sportsmanship.

Unless he had made another Elly and had the skills unlocked.
Highly improbable though.

I'd go air ele over fire ele for spikes since fire dmg is often reduced heavily by armor whereas air dmg has a high armour penetration. And also fire seems to be aimed more at AoEs than spike damage whereas air is designated to spiking.

it has nothing to do with my understanding of the skill. it has all to do with my limited experience in PvP and therefore not anticipating other human players actions

so you have the highest armour level available for your character all the skills unlocked and probably gold or green weapons? and you dont see how this is unsportsmanlike?
tell you what. if you want to impress anybody try going into the arenas on a an equal footing with everyone else.
if you have to stack the deck so much in your favour just to be competitive with lvl 10 and below players then i really feel sorry for you. maybe you should find someone who has actually played the game through instead of being run everywhere and ask them to teach you how to play your character

Agreed; however, I also find what the OP is doing rather disagreeable. Personally, I wouldn't offer my advice to someone who would just use it to gain an unfair advantage to just make him/herself feel good about him/herself.

In Yaks, the appropriate elite is Glyph of Poor Sportsmanship.
